A New Beginning Cancer
Retreat overlooks a beautiful spring fed lake in rolling hills with nature all
around us. Experience healthy living, healing and a renewal of life during a
three-day retreat designed to offer a
non-clinical environment for
relaxation.
We have a professional psychologist who will offer
individual counseling and group seminars. Our staff dietician will plan our
meals and hold nutrition classes to explain the benefits of healthy eating on
the road back to good health. Experience aeromatherapy with Yoga classes and
isolated stretching exercises designed to guide you in relaxation in times of
stress. Lymphatic massages will also be given to reduce pain and swelling and
aid in lymph drainage.
A licensed cosmetologist will be available by
appointment to offer help with wigs and the types of skin and scalp care
necessary during and after chemotherapy. All of this information will be based
on the "Look Better Feel Better" program from the American Cancer Society. A
nail technician will be available for manicures, pedicures, and paraffin wax
therapy.
During the unstructured time, walk as one or with your new
friends in the scenic lake environment.
Pick flowers in the summer air. Pot
a plant to take home with you summer and winter. Smell the roses. Swing on the
porch swing. Bird watch for the eagle family we have overhead. Enjoy the
hummingbirds who thank us on our deck for the sweet water we provide them. Have
a picnic or get cozy in by the fire. Take a classic car ride through the fresh
evening air. The water of the spring fed lake is so clear, you can see deep
into a sea of blue. You may want to swim, paddleboat, or even take an evening
boat cruise. In winter, crafts are offered. This is a time for relaxation and
fun!
