A New Beginning Cancer Retreat overlooks a beautiful spring fed lake in rolling hills with nature all around us. Experience healthy living, healing and a renewal of life during a three-day retreat designed to offer a inside the retreatnon-clinical environment for relaxation.

We have a professional psychologist who will offer individual counseling and group seminars. Our staff dietician will plan our meals and hold nutrition classes to explain the benefits of healthy eating on the road back to good health. Experience aeromatherapy with Yoga classes and isolated stretching exercises designed to guide you in relaxation in times of stress. Lymphatic massages will also be given to reduce pain and swelling and aid in lymph drainage.

A licensed cosmetologist will be available by appointment to offer help with wigs and the types of skin and scalp care necessary during and after chemotherapy. All of this information will be based on the "Look Better Feel Better" program from the American Cancer Society. A nail technician will be available for manicures, pedicures, and paraffin wax therapy.

During the unstructured time, walk as one or with your new friends in the scenic lake environment. enjoy the lakePick flowers in the summer air. Pot a plant to take home with you summer and winter. Smell the roses. Swing on the porch swing. Bird watch for the eagle family we have overhead. Enjoy the hummingbirds who thank us on our deck for the sweet water we provide them. Have a picnic or get cozy in by the fire. Take a classic car ride through the fresh evening air. The water of the spring fed lake is so clear, you can see deep into a sea of blue. You may want to swim, paddleboat, or even take an evening boat cruise. In winter, crafts are offered. This is a time for relaxation and fun!

Retreats
Our weekday retreats run Monday-Wednesday. All age groups, children, women, men and couples are welcome. Your loved one can drop you off by 11:00am on Monday. The retreat begins with a get acquainted luncheon and a treat for you. Then if you'd like, your loved one can also plan to have lunch with you here on Wednesday - weather permitting you may order a picnic for two. Weekend retreats are Friday -Sunday. A loved one may join you with a tax deductable donation of $100.

Support groups gather at the retreat.
  • Children dealing with cancer group- their parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters. Children have become a large focus at our retreat center. Helping families, education and answering questions helps them through their journey with cancer.
  • Young adults group (teens) - with cancer or have lost a loved one.
  • Parent and Grandparent group - they are survivors too!
Everyone is welcome to join these group sessions at no cost. The larger your support system is built the more power of positive thinking works! Call for dates and times of support group meetings.
